Ice vending machine ROI calculator

Edit the inputs to test your own location. Start with conservative sales and all project costs; this is a planning tool, not an earnings promise.

Only the USD 7,000 base machine price and USD 800 sealing option reflect the current equipment quote. All sales, freight, setup and operating-cost values below are editable examples, not quotations, measured consumption or verified customer results.

How the calculation works

  • Available days = operating days minus unavailable days.
  • Monthly portions = average portions/day × available days.
  • Revenue = monthly portions × selling price.
  • Variable cost includes packaging, electricity, water, other variable cost, a transaction percentage and a fee per purchase.
  • Cash result = revenue minus variable and entered monthly fixed/periodic expenses.
  • Operating break-even = monthly fixed expenses ÷ contribution per portion ÷ available days. This excludes recovery of investment.
  • Simple payback = total investment ÷ positive monthly cash result. No positive payback is shown for a loss.
  • Annualized cash ROI = 12 × monthly cash result ÷ total investment. This is not a discounted return or guaranteed annual outcome.

Important model limits

The calculator assumes one portion per payment transaction and uniform average costs. Replace example inputs with actual provider terms, transport quotes and site costs. For multiple portions per purchase, adjust transaction costs appropriately. Include financing, taxes, working capital and other costs relevant to your project; they are not automatically added.

The 450 kg/day input starts from the published 20°C rating, not verified field output. The tool warns when assumed sales exceed assumed production but does not constrain sales automatically. It does not model storage depletion, ice loss, weather or seasonality. Run separate monthly scenarios where conditions differ.

Build your assumptions from evidence

Use the equipment cost guide, location research and capacity guide. The investment snapshot in the uploaded product proposal is illustrative, not a real customer case or a current binding shipping quote.
