Capacity planning
Ambient temperature and ice production
Rated production is a reference condition, not guaranteed output in every climate. Size the project using the proposed site’s temperatures, ventilation and daily demand.
Read the published rating correctly
The referenced bagged-machine literature states 450 kg per 24 hours at 20°C, with 200 kg nominal storage. The supplied document does not fully define inlet-water temperature or provide a capacity test curve. Request the complete rating conditions and final datasheet before designing around maximum capacity.
| Published item | Meaning for planning |
|---|---|
| 450 kg / 24h at 20°C | A stated production rating; not measured output at your location. |
| 200 kg nominal storage | Stored ice capacity, not another 200 kg of daily production. |
| 0–45°C ambient reference | A promotional operating-range reference, not a promise of full production across that range. |
| 35°C, 40°C or 45°C output | No verified output figures supplied; request configuration-specific performance data. |
Describe the actual operating environment
- Expected daytime and overnight ambient temperatures, including the hottest operating periods.
- Feed-water temperature and available water conditions.
- Whether the cabinet is shaded, enclosed or near other heat sources.
- Airflow and clearance available for the selected cooling arrangement.
- Peak purchase periods, average daily demand and planned operating hours.
Air cooling is described in the proposal, with water cooling available by customization. Confirm which arrangement is ordered and the approved heat-rejection requirements.
Separate production, storage and customer demand
For the currently quoted 5 kg bags, 450 kg represents 90 bags by simple arithmetic at the stated reference condition before losses. It is not a guaranteed daily sales volume. Nominal storage can help meet short bursts of demand, but a sustained demand higher than replenishment eventually depletes stock.
Account for startup, maintenance, cleaning, ice losses and actual climate. Do not model every month at the maximum published rating. Storage insulation does not establish unlimited ice hold time.
Request evidence before promising capacity
Ask for the final model’s capacity information under relevant ambient and feed-water temperatures, together with the test method and configuration. A sales estimate or an unsourced percentage derating is not equivalent to a measured performance curve.
Use conservative demand assumptions in the ROI calculator and review site ventilation and connections. For solar and battery projects, also obtain actual energy and startup-load information instead of converting nameplate kW directly into daily energy use.
