Equipment decision
Bagged ice vs ice cup machine
The main difference is the customer’s use for the ice. Choose take-home bags or immediate-use cups before comparing machine capacity.

When bagged ice makes sense
Use bagged ice equipment where customers need enough ice to fill a cooler or take home. Consider parking, carrying distance and a clear pickup area. The current quoted 5 kg bag differs from earlier literature describing adjustable 1–5 kg sales; ask for written confirmation before assuming other formats.
Automatic bag filling is standard in the current quote; automatic sealing is an additional option. Review bag specifications with samples so the packaging and sealing process work together.
When ice cups make sense
Use the cup machine for beverage-oriented demand and smaller portions. Confirm compatible cups, portion settings, product presentation and replenishment requirements. Do not choose cups solely because the base equipment price is lower; check what customers actually want to buy.
Compare the operating model, not just the cabinet
Both formats need suitable utilities, cleaning, consumable replenishment and a local responsible operator. Compare real sale prices per portion, packaging cost, demand, service visits and site charges. Daily rated ice production does not predict daily revenue.
Use location research and the calculator for your selected format. The calculator is framed around bagged ice; change the portion weight and all related inputs if using it for a cup scenario.
